Over the same period, the council issued a further 51 Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) for littering offences. Anyone issued with an FPN must pay within 14 days. If the fine is not paid after a reminder, the council will begin legal proceedings to take the case to court.

“ These fines show exactly what happens when you choose to litter in Walsall. Our message is clear, if you drop it, you pay for it.

“We have plans progressing to introduce even more CCTV so that those who disrespect our borough are identified and fined. This behaviour is unacceptable, and we will not allow a small number of people to spoil our shared spaces. “

All income from fines is reinvested directly into enforcement activity, including CCTV monitoring, investigations and action against offenders.

Residents in Walsall have access to two free-to-use Household Waste Recycling Centres at Fryers Road, Bloxwich, and Merchants Way, Aldridge, where general waste, recycling and bulky items can be disposed of legally. A bulky waste collection service is also available for households unable to transport larger items.

Families who require additional bin capacity because of growing households or medical needs can apply for a larger bin via the council’s website.
