Walsall Voluntary Action provides life support for local action

Walsall Voluntary Action is owned and run by local voluntary groups and are part of the national network of Councils for Voluntary Service (CVS) whose job is to support, promote and develop voluntary and community activity across the borough of Walsall.

As the hub for voluntary action, they deal with hundreds of enquiries each year - from community groups, charities or people keen to volunteer. Their experienced team cover everything from giving a helping hand to get a group started, through to support with funding bids, financial management services and advice on the ins and outs of charity law.

With the demands on the sector growing, Walsall Voluntary Action are always looking for innovative ways to deliver their services:

• Last year they launched www.walsallfunding.com - the West Midlands' first ever online portal for accessing funding.
• To meet the sector's training needs, they created www.walsall4learning.co.uk - a specialist website to help individuals or organisations access funds for education and training.
• Late last year Walsall Voluntary Action launched the latest addition to their family of websites: www.walsallvcs.info, an online community database that brings together the details of voluntary organisations from across Walsall in a single, comprehensive site.

Walsall Voluntary action are also known as the voice for Walsall's voluntary sector. Their network meetings bring organisations together, help them to access vital resources or information and give the sector real influence with key decision makers.

They have also supported the crucial role played by voluntary organisations in the delivery of better public services, through initiatives like their Expert Panels - one off, topic-focused meetings that help to achieve Walsall's Local Area Agreement targets.
