Most will be going out and making the most of their long awaited day off- whether that be going out with the family; taking the kids to Newport's Tredegar House to visit Captain Morgan and his Pirates, going out for a picnic, if the sun is shining! Or visiting a local restaurant or coffee shop such as Coffi Mawr in Newport who offer a variety of hot and cold food or Coffi 1860 In Blaenavon who offer full english breakfast's!

There is always lots to do for the children on a bank holiday- They could visit Pontypool and Blaenavon's railway for a fun day out on the steam trains! They can discover the animals at All Creatures Great and Small Animal Sanctuary, where they can learn about the animals whilst you sit back, relax and enjoy a spot of afternoon tea! Why not take them swimming with their friends to the local swimming pool? Ieuan The Lion Memorial Fund are also holding a family fun and craft day at The Three Horseshoes Inn, Newport! on the 24th of August 12am-6pm and will be packed with activities.

You will be suprised whats on offer for the adults too Why not embrace the great outdoors? A guided walk from Pontypool Active Living Centre maybe right up your street! If you love to exercise, meet new people and socialise, then this is a great event! Exercise is an effective stress releaver and can really help you relax. Go on a bike ride, a walk up the mountain or even a fishing trip for those keen fishermen.

There really is something for everyone- For you pooch lovers there is a fun dog show being held at Greenmeadow Community Farm which will be a great day out for the whole family. Some of you maybe relaxing at home, doing nothing but enjoying your day off in peace!
