If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, there’s loads going on in and around the New Forest. Here are some ideas for a great weekend.

In Lymington, as well as the usual market in the High Street on Saturday, there’s a DDay Commemoration with 1940s themed events at the Railway Station between 10am and 4pm, starting with a blessing at 10am.  A plaque will be unveiled by the Essex Regiment in the Town Quay at 3pm, and there will be wartime vessels coming into Town Quay and Berthon Marina.  As if that’s not enough to celebrate this important event, the Diamonds will be singing at Town Quay at 10.15 am and 2pm.  It looks like a great day out and about in Lymington on Saturday.

Staying in Lymington for Sunday, there’s the Arts in the Park event in Bath Road Recreation Ground between 11am and 5pm, with bands playing and loads of arts, crafts and food stalls to enjoy.

Brockenhurst is also commemorating DDay on Saturday, with events at Brockenhurst Station and in the village, and a history trail. There will be a blessing at Brockenhurst  War Memorial at 10am.

Saturday is packed full with things to do! Why not head to St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery in Lymington to see the Open Exhibition, which is always a great celebration of local art.  In Lyndhurst you could join in with the Paws For Walk charity fundraising event at The Crown Stirrup Pub, Lyndhurst – a fun fundraising event for hearing dogs.  There will be activities include crafts, a BBQ, a forest walk and a dog show.

There's a traditional Village Fete at Sandleheath, from 12pm-5pm, with a dog show, cake baking competition and loads more; not forgetting that the winning Scarecrow will be announced!

On Saturday night you could take a lovely stroll in the New Forest, starting at Blackwater Aboretum for a night walk to see a herd of fallow deer, bats and nightjars – this does need to be booked in advance.

Last but not least, there are the usual car boot sales in Boldre and New Milton on Sunday.

You will find information about all of these on our website – and do let us know of any other events you would like us to shout out about.
