Looking for what’s on in Sutton Coldfield this August? The beautifully restored Royal Cinema at Maney Corner has a packed programme, combining the latest cinema releases with old favourites and special events.

🎬 Some of the August highlights include:

• Spider-Man: Brand New Day – Showing throughout August, with a choice of daytime and evening screenings.
• André Rieu’s 2026 Summer Concert: Viva Maastricht! – Saturday 8th August, 7pm – Celebrate the 20th anniversary of André Rieu’s famous Vrijthof summer concerts with this special big-screen experience.
• PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie – from Friday 14th August – A new big-screen adventure for younger cinema fans featuring Ryder, Chase, Marshall, Skye, Rubble, Rocky and plenty of prehistoric action.
• Royal Elvis Season – every Monday throughout August – The King is back on the big screen! Royal Cinema is celebrating Elvis Presley with five iconic films during the month, including King Creole, Jailhouse Rock, Blue Hawaii, Viva Las Vegas and G.I. Blues.
• Trainspotting – 4K Restoration – The iconic Danny Boyle film returns to the big screen as part of Royal Rewind.
• Dirty Dancing 80s Party – A chance to enjoy the much-loved 1980s classic on the big screen as part of a special themed cinema experience.
• The Odyssey – Christopher Nolan’s epic adaptation continues to screen during August, starring Matt Damon as Odysseus.

Royal Seniors

Royal Cinema also runs its popular Royal Seniors screenings on Wednesday mornings, offering a relaxed and sociable cinema experience for guests aged 60 and over.

Tickets are just £5 and include a hot drink plus a biscuit or chocolate bar. Carers accompanying an eligible guest are also welcome and do not need to meet the age requirement.

Please note: Royal Seniors normally runs on Wednesdays excluding school holidays and special events, so regular screenings are scheduled to return in September following the summer holidays.

Autism & Sensory Friendly Screenings

Royal Cinema aims to hold an Autism & Sensory Friendly Screening one Sunday each month, providing a calmer and more accessible cinema experience for people with autism, learning disabilities or sensory sensitivities, together with their families, friends and carers.

These relaxed screenings include:

• 🔉 Lower sound levels
• 💡 Lights kept on low throughout the film
• 🚶 Freedom to move around, make noise or take a break
• 🎞️ No adverts or trailers before the film
• 😊 Friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere
• 🎧 Audio headsets available for those who wish to use them

Sensory Friendly screenings also normally exclude school holidays, and there is currently no Autism Friendly screening listed for August. Visitors are encouraged to check the cinema website for newly announced dates.
