During this course you will explore the basics of digital photographic practice. We will explore the fundamental knowledge of photography techniques and key elements of this method of image-making. You will be guided through the course, assistance will be offered to beginners, and more in depth advice to more experienced photographers.
You will be guided through initial recording of the images; by using a variety of techniques and processes you will be able to produce a portfolio of images.
The course provides strong foundation for photography enthusiasts, as well as beginners, sharpening your skills and bettering your practice. You will be fully supported and will have the opportunity to develop your own personal practice.
Week 1: Introduction to the course; understanding camera formats; manual focus
Week 2: Aperture and its relation to shutter speed; built-in light meter; correct exposure
Week 3: Shutter Speed; shooting in manual mode
Week 4: ISO; exposure tringle
Week 5: Depth of field; focal length;
Week 6: Use of available light; built-in flash; white balance
Week 7: Basic rules of composition
Week 8: How to compose successful image?
Week 9: Selecting your images, online presence
Week 10: Open session, personal portfolio development. Review, portfolio presentation and progression options.
This course is for beginners or photographers who have basic knowledge and wish to brush up on their skills.
Materials and Equipment
You will need a camera (DSLR or bridge), notepad, pen, and memory stick for every session. A DSLR camera is preferable but not essential.
