Romulus FC in Sutton Coldfield was formed as a junior football club in 1979 by a group of Sutton Coldfield parents keen to give their sons a higher standard of regular competition. Such was the success of the club on and off the pitch, it then progressed as into regular Sunday League football (junior, and then senior), and then the Saturday senior leagues, where their climb through the ranks was phenomenal.

Today the club plays in the Evo Stik League, and is just four ranks below the Football League.

Not only that, Romulus FC is dedicated to further establishing itself as a community club serving Sutton Coldfield, and offering facilities that everyone can benefit from in some shape or form.

The club is now in the third year of it's own dedicated Romulus FC Academy, that has won wide acclaim locally, and throughout the football community as a whole. The Romulus FC Academy is for school leavers aged 16 to 18, who want to improve their football skills with regular daily coaching and match action against a high class of opposition (including Football League club academies), but who also want to study for a professional qualification in the sports industry - be it as an administrator, a physiotherapist, and more. The Academy is run in association with Bournville College, and selection for the football team is dependent on attendance at the academic classes.

Some Academy students have gone on to progress to professional football, and Romulus FC has a great reputation for developing players who go on to play at a higher level. One of our former players played at Wembley in May this year, another plays in the Scottish Premier League.

Our Head of Academy is Andy Turner, who played for Tottenham, and was - for four seasons - the Premier League's youngest ever goalscorer, scoring for Tottenham against Everton at just 17 and five months in 1992. Andy is also joint first team coach with the club's chairman Richard Evans, who has been associated with the club since its launch in 1979, when he was just 12 years old.
