It’s a chance to explore the studios and creative spaces of nine local artists, as well as visit two of Sudbury’s independent galleries.
All locations are within walking distance of the town centre, making this a perfect opportunity to enjoy Sudbury on foot. You can take in the town’s historic streets and, if you like, enjoy a riverside walk along the Stour to Mill Tye Gallery.
The trail is part of Suffolk Open Studios, a county-wide initiative that runs throughout June. Artists across Suffolk open their studios to the public, giving people a behind-the-scenes look at how they work. It’s a chance to ask questions, buy artwork directly from the artist, and see the creative process up close.
Each artist chooses when to open their space. In Sudbury, the artists and galleries have come together to offer a shared trail on one weekend, making it easier for visitors to see more in one go.
The event is free to attend. Studios and galleries will be open from 10.30am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
Printed leaflets with a trail map and list of addresses will be available from early June. You’ll be able to pick one up at the Sudbury Library, Quay Theatre, The Art Centre, the Town Hall and several local businesses.
