The Stratford Town Walk
1st February 2012

On a cold and crisp day we joined Helen Hogg for a Town Walk of Stratford. Helen greeted everyone present and then gave a brief summary of how she came to be conducting Town Walks.

We then set off on a two hour tour of Stratford upon Avon stopping off at various locations to be given a full and comprehensive history of the location and its relevance and connection to other parts of the town. Stratford has such a rich history - not just in terms of Shakespeare - but also recent history that I doubt anybody would come away from the walk without learning something new.

What was really nice and refreshing was that at no time was the commentary dry or condescending, it was delivered in a style that was relaxing, informative and amusing.

The one thing that really stood out for me was Helen's passion for Stratford upon Avon and all things connected to it. Helen and John conduct their Walk 365 days a year in all weathers and even if you are a local it is well worth two hours of your time to learn something new about the marvellous town of Stratford upon Avon.
