Is it an opportunity or a waste of money?

The summer of 2012 will go down in history as one of the busiest ever in terms of events taking place in the world.

We have just finished celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, this was over the space of 4 days and was broadcast and watched throughout the world.  Whatever your feelings on the cost of this extravaganza, nobody can deny that it brought attention to the country and raised its profile throughout the world.

Starting on Friday 8th June is the European Football Championship in which England have qualified to take part in.   These championships take place every 4 years and the winner of the tournament is crowned Champions of Europe.  I can almost hear the groans from non football lovers, but if England progress to the later stages, these same people will be showing an interest and the feel good factor will spread throughout the country.  Remember what happened in 1996 when England reached the semi finals?

Towards the end of July, London is playing host to the Olympic Games.  This has been several years in the planning, and promises to be one of the biggest events the country has ever hosted.  At a time of economic belt tightening, the games can either be seen as a folly or an opportunity to market our country and its abilities in a number of different sectors.

Like in everything in life, there are always two ways to look at things.  Those that are most successful in what they do will always tend to see the opportunities to promote themselves rather than the negatives, as they see what is spent now as an investment in the future.
