Recently some family visited Stratford upon Avon for a few days to celebrate a milestone birthday.
They asked us the best places to stay, eat, visit etc.
Having enjoyed a great night out at The Royal Shakespeare Theatre, we also told them that if the weather was good the following day - which fortunately it was - to go down to Bancroft Gardens and buy an ice cream and take in the view of the park, the river Avon and the Stratford upon Avon Canal.
Imagine their surprise and delight when on overhearing their conversation about birthday celebrations a couple in Bancroft Gardens gave them a bottle of wine and two glasses and wished them a happy birthday!
It now seems that an annual visit to Stratford upon Avon has been pencilled into the diary!
