Chicago - The VAMPS of St Neots
  • The Priory Centre
    Priory Lane
    St Neots
    PE19 2BH
The roaring twenties are here, and so is the hottest, sassiest, jazziest, most razzle-dazzling musical of all time, Chicago. The VAMPS are bringing the Cook County Jail to life at the St Neots Priory Centre, with a satirical look at fame, celebrity, justice, greed, corruption and ‘All That Jazz’.

Based on the stories of the real murderesses of Chicago and the stylings of the biggest vaudeville stars of the 1920s, Chicago follows the story of wannabe star Roxie Hart through her arrest and trial for the murder of her lover, despite her attempts to manipulate her devoted husband, Amos, into covering for her. She meets the smooth-talking, self-serving lawyer, Billy Flynn, corrupt prison matron ‘Mama’ Morton and fallen vaudeville star and infamous double murderess, Velma Kelly. Roxie becomes as cynical and manipulative as her idol Velma, as the two desperately compete for the showbiz spotlight as a celebrity criminal.

The longest-running American musical in West End and Broadway history, the Tony and Grammy Award-winning show continues to wow audiences around the world, becoming even more popular following the 2002 Oscar-winning film version. The legacy of Bob Fosse, the original director, choreographer and co-writer, lives on in Chicago’s characteristic movements and unique style. Featuring Kander and Ebb’s show-stopping songs, including ‘Cell Block Tango’, ‘Mister Cellophane’ and ‘Razzle Dazzle’, crime has never looked so glamorous.

The show is on at the Priory Centre, Priory Lane, St Neots, on Thursday 26, Friday 27 and Saturday 28 March 2020. Performances are at 7.30pm each day, with an additional performance at 2.30pm on Saturday 28 March. Tickets (£14 adults, £12 concessions) are available from or through the Priory Centre (01480 388922).
