Worlding Soundings is a new collaborative series by WORLDING and Acoustic Survey Art Lab, launching this May in Southwark, London.
Conceived as a series of one-day sonic residencies, the programme invites artists, musicians, movement practitioners, and curious participants into a structured but open environment for improvisation, listening, recording, and cross-disciplinary sound practice.
The series brings together two complementary approaches. WORLDING offers a context shaped by exchange, experimentation, care, food, and public-facing artistic activity. Acoustic Survey Art Lab brings a research-driven practice exploring the sonic character of spaces through listening, site-responsive recording, and live experimentation.
Each residency unfolds as a theme-led day combining guided exercises, artist references, practical sound-making techniques, reflection, communal plant-based meals, and an evening hangout with performances. Across the series, participants may encounter work with voice, found objects, recording devices, everyday materials, environment, space, and collective sound-making.
Highlights across the residencies include:
improvisation with guest artists, listening and recording exercises, practical sound-making techniques, communal plant-based meals, evening hangouts with performances.
