Step aboard The Golden Hinde - the full-size reconstruction of Sir Francis Drake’s legendary ship - for an evening of music, verse, and celebration.
In honour of Shakespeare’s birthday last month, and to celebrate our partnership/collaboration with Shakespeare's Globe, The Lovekyn Consort returns with a richly evocative programme of songs and instrumental pieces from the Elizabethan and Jacobean eras. Vocalist Patricia Hammond, flautist and recorder player William Summers, and lutenist Stephen Carpenter bring to life music drawn from Shakespeare’s plays, including The Tempest, Hamlet, Twelfth Night, and Othello, alongside timeless ballads like Greensleeves and Fortune, My Foe.
They are joined by actors from The Golden Hinde, who will weave spoken excerpts from Shakespeare’s sonnets and plays throughout the evening, conjuring the words and spirit of the Bard aboard this historic ship.
Expect an atmospheric and intimate evening of storytelling, melody, and poetry, where the magic of Shakespeare’s world meets the timeless craftsmanship of Renaissance music.
