Heinrich Biber’s remarkable sonatas on each of the 15 Mysteries of the Rosary were dedicated to his employer, the Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg. Probably written in the 1670s they were virtually unknown until their publication in 1905. Performed by four musicians well-known for their sensitive readings of baroque music, this is a rare opportunity to hear several from the set, paired with popular sonatas of the period by Handel and J.S. Bach.
