With rumours that the recession is over and business is about to take a turn for the better, why not have a look at your company and see if there is anything you can do to help move forward and make 2010 the best year yet.

First, make some new contacts by joining a networking group. This can either be weekly with Southport Business Network or you can choose a less formal occasional event and try BEST Net. The Chamber of Commerce also has networking events, monthly for all members or weekly on a basis of one member per business category. Ladies also have the option of trying, Sefton Womens Business Network. As well as making new contacts, networking is a great way of getting support and advice, especially if you are a sole trader or run a very small company.

The Federation of Small Businesses is another source of support and advice which also holds local meetings on a two monthly basis.

Secondly, try some new ways of advertising.  The Best of Southport is a great way to promote your business, with its online guide, newsletters and networking opportunities. For those who still prefer paper, In & Round Magazines have a good reputation for bringing local businesses to the notice of local people. If you want to distribute brochures or leaflets, Southport Leaflet Distribution is a very cost effective and reliable way of getting your literature to into the homes in the streets of your choice.

If your business literature needs a facelift, or you simply need some new stationery, try Gaynors the Printers, centrally based in Portland Street, for excellent local service.

If you are starting a new business, make sure you have a good accountant who will steer you through all the pitfalls and help you set up workable systems to run your business.

Finally, why not get some help with all those admin tasks that you continually put off. If you don’t want the hassle of employing someone, Executemp Ltd can provide all the help you need either on a regular or ad hoc basis.
