Why not take advantage of the current fine weather to get out on your bike and enjoy the countryside surrounding Southport!
We take a trip out to Mere Brow for a ride round this pleasant farming area. We start from Mere Brow centre. You will either have to drive out there or ride to the start.
Take the Rufford road towards Holmeswood from the junction in Mere Brow. After 1 mile turn left down the road signposted Martin Mere follow this for about two miles. Take the first right after Martin Mere. Follow this lane into Rufford, turning right at the end back toward Mere Brow. After about ½ a mile there is a track on the left to Mere Sands Nature Reserve, which is worthy of a visit and if you have time there are a couple of short circular walks.
After Mere Sands ride about ¼ mile until you see Holmeswood Coaches on the left. Opposite there is a track on your right which you should follow. This takes you to Doctors Lane. Once you reach it you should turn right and follow to the end, where you turn left to ride back to Mere Brow centre
