Next week, one of Southport's most energetic and committed fundraisers, Judi Wilson will set off on the greatest challenge of her life - to walk the Great Wall of China to raise money for Queenscourt Hospice. Ever since her partner, Mike Butterworth, died of cancer three years ago, Judi has thrown her heart into fundraising for the hospice where he was cared for.
Judi will set off on her trek next Tuesday, and will walk for 7-8 hours a day for 7 days! Parts of the wall are very steep and much of the terrain is difficult, but Judi has been training hard for this for the past year, both in the gym and on some 'real walks'.
Last night at her send off party and final fundraiser, Judi announced that she had reached her target of £5,000 - all of which will go to Queenscourt.
