As part of the Image Fest series of events, Castle Bromwich Heritage Festival took place at Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel and Gardens. Featuring a number of themed zones including Tudor, Victorian and World War Two the festival showcased some interesting scenes and stories from the area through the ages. It also incorporated St Mary and St Margaret Church and featured a beer festival as well as stall and games on the village green. Excitement grew at Balsall Common Primary School this week as the children from across the school are competing for a place in the final which is to be held on Thursday 9th March.
Solihull Today were on hand to film the Knowle Fun Run featuring thousands of runners taking on the 5 mile course. Started by veteran entertainer Don Maclean and sponsored by Hunters estate agents, the event is organised by Knowle and Dorridge Lions. The start and finish to the race is at Arden school in Knowle and it takes in many parts of Knowle and some of the sights of the village. Solihull Today went along to Hampton Manor in Hampton in Arden to see what business networking is all about at Business Biscotti Solihull. A vibrant group of SME businesses meet there once a month to build relationships, meet other businesses and generate work. More than 50 people were there from accountants to web designers, personal trainers to reflexologists and much more. The meeting takes place every third Wednesday of the month with just a £3 donation to charity asked for by the organisers, Nicky Robinson, Paula Hancox, Adam Snelleksz and Jayne O'Malley. The Funbridge Games took place in Fordbridge and involved fun and games based around a traditional school sports day featuring sack races, egg and spoon races and a tug of war. Solihull children's clothing store BB Boutique celebrated its first birthday with a Wizard of Oz themed party and activities. Complete with their very own yellow brick road and Dorothy skipping along it, the clothing shop made a big splash in Solihull town centre. BB Boutique directors Trish Willets and Jessie Hancox were up in the early hours with a band of volunteers to create the yellow brick road with special chalk that led from outside Touchwood shopping centre all the way up to their shop. In the shop the fun continued with face painting for the children and special offers for customers. As the first article created by the Solihull Today team, it was a great way to launch the brand new channel and a lot of fun to be involved with.
