Roaring to keep trade local..

Hard pressed traders in Langely have got together to fight serious threats their businesses face. Members gathered to launch a ‘traders association with local councillors onboard and all are behind the federation of small businesses campaign to keep trade local. East Berks branch chairwoman Mary Flavelle said ‘It was a great day’.
All if the businesses in Langley are now proudly displaying their keep trade local window stickers as a reminder of their importance within the community. There are a number of issues faced by the local shops and in particular problems around parking. Presently they are suffering from over enthusiastic car park attendants – apparently 30 shops need three wardens there all day, every day. Excess yellow lines are directly prohibiting businesses from trading and customers have to stop some distance away. Delivery drivers have also received tickets.
The final nail in their coffin is plans for a supermarket less than 15 minutes away which will have an adverse effect on the specialist shops in the village..
