Slough Town Football Club (STFC) took a step nearer to coming home on Monday after Slough Borough Council’s cabinet approved a proposed multi-million pound development on the old Arbour Vale site on Stoke Road.

Slough Town Football Club and Paradigm Housing Association want to develop the site with much needed family homes, sports fields and a new, state-of-the-art, stadium.

The proposal includes:

  • 81 residential dwellings
  • New stadium
  • New external football pitches, including 3G state-of-the-art, artificial pitch

With the exception of the stadium pitch, the external football pitches will be made available for use by St Joseph’s School, which currently has access to the playing field.

Following cabinet’s approval, the next stage of the process will involve detailed discussions with planners before a full planning application is submitted in the autumn.

Steve Easterbrook, chairman for STFC, said: “We are ecstatic cabinet approved the proposal. This is such a great result and we can not wait to get started. We’re going to make the community proud by bringing them together.

“We want to create a state-of-the-art stadium for Slough, along with better football pitches for residents to use. And with family homes as well, the club believes that this project breathes new life into the old Arbour Vale site.”

Councillor Shafiq Chaudhry, Commissioner for community and leisure said “As part of this development the stadium will provide exemplary community and sports facilities for the whole borough, with countless health and fitness benefits. The activities provided will help keep people of all ages, and specifically youngsters occupied, healthy and engaged, building social relations and a strong sense of community. It will be a boost for the whole town, and another reason we are all Proud to be Slough.”

Ikram Haq, Managing Director, New Business at Paradigm Housing Association, said: “Paradigm Housing is excited to be working with Slough Borough Council to provide the homes and facilities the area needs. We believe in creating sustainable communities and building facilities that make a positive difference to people’s lives.”
