Based at Coventry Airport near Rugby, this charitable organisation Agusta 109 state-of-the-art helicopter is the fastest civilian helicopter available and can be in the air in just 45 seconds from the time an emergency call is received. It can travel at 200 mph and has an average response time of just 6 minutes.

The quick response speed of the pilots and the great skill of the medical team have meant that hundreds of patients have been saved, who would otherwise have been severely disabled or who would not have survived

This Charitable Organisation from the Rugby area is one of only three of the UK's 14 air ambulances which has a doctor on board as well as paramedics. With an ever-increasing call out rate of between 120 and 150 missions per month, it is the UK's busiest air ambulance service.

This Charitable Organisation is unique because of the combination of the fast helicopter and having doctors as part of the crew. It means that they can take the hospital to the incident, offering critical care and the chance to stabilise the patient before a speedy delivery to the best hospital.

This makes the most of the 'golden hour', the first 60 minutes after an incident, in which experts say it is vital to deliver specialist treatment to increase the chance of survival.

It costs approximately £850 to run one mission. Andy Williamson, Director of this Charitable Organisation, explains why they need your support:

"This air ambulance saves lives that would otherwise be lost. But there is so much more we could do. People are dying because our hours are limited. It's as simple as that. We already have a fantastic amount of support from our local communities, without whom we could't fly. But to reach our aim of doubling our flying hours, we need to find more supporters."

There are many ways you can support this Charitable Organisation from Rugby, from individual fund raising efforts right through to major corporate sponsorship of the helicopter and crew. Please become a Life Supporter today and raise money for the UK's leading air ambulance.
