Winter Appeal Update From Agapao, Rossendale

In December, Rossendale based charity Agapao International teamed up with Rossendale Radio to organise a Christmas toy appeal.

Local people were invited to add an extra item on their Santa shopping list to buy a gift for a child in the Rossendale Valley. Agapao contacted local health visitors who identified 12 families that could benefit and as a result 26 children, from 6 months to 10 years of age received presents, thanks to the kindness of the Rossendale Valley residents.

Cash donations from local businesses enabled the Agapao and Rossendale Radio team to buy even more toys, which meant that a further 8 families and 12 children from the Lancashire Women’s Refuge were able to get presents at Christmas.

Donations continued arriving into the New Year and due to the overwhelming response it was also possible to donate toys, game and books to the Manchester Children's Hospital.

Agapao and Rossendale Radio would like to thank everyone who bought toys and helped to put smile on the faces of so many children across the Valley and beyond.

If people would like to continue supporting the Winter Appeal, Agapao is asking for donations of hats, gloves, scarves, socks, blankets, tinned and non-perishable food items to be distributed to the elderly and homeless across Rossendale. Items can be dropped off at the Agapao Impact Centre, 12 Bury Rd, Haslingden BB4 5PL
