A Tea Party due to be held on the afternoon of Sunday 3 June to mark HRH The Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations has been cancelled due to a low ticket take-up. The event was due to be held at the Riverside in Whitworth and was being organised jointly by Whitworth Town Council and CLAW (Community Leisure Association of Whitworth).

Karen Douglas, Town Clerk, said: 'It's a real disappointment to have to cancel the event, but the number of tickets sold couldn't justify the event and we could have lost a significant amount of money in the process. Thank you to those who did buy tickets, who can now get a refund by returning the tickets to the Riverside. There'll be lots more events taking place over the summer for Whitworth residents to get involved in, including a Family Fun Day in July and the second Whitworth Scarecrow Festival and Rushcart in September.'

For more information and refunds, please contact Karen Douglas, Town Clerk on 01706 852018 / email info@whitworth.gov.uk or Lisa McDowell at the Riverside on 01706 854130 / email riverside-whitworth@zen.co.uk.
