We have just secured 3 years funding for an innovative community health programme called “Heads Up Rossendale”.  The project will be funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund. The aim of the programme is to help local people to improve their health and well-being by providing them with a wide range of horticultural volunteering and training opportunities. We will also provide one to one mentoring to help our clients to access the types of specialist help, support and advice they may need to raise their aspirations and improve the quality of their lives.

We are now looking for an enthusiastic volunteer supervisor to help us to deliver this exciting new project. Under the guidance of the Operations Manager, the role will involve co-ordinating and supporting the training and work of volunteers and clients at Stubbylee Community Greenhouses and also providing them with one to one mentoring, advice and support.

We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal, mentoring and organisational skills. A keen interest and experience in horticulture or gardening is an essential requirement for this post. You also will need to be able to work effectively with volunteers and clients from a wide range for different backgrounds. In particular, we are looking for someone with experience of working with people who have mental health problems or learning disabilities. Experience of working with unemployed and with disadvantaged, vulnerable and socially isolated people would also be an advantage. Previous experience of working in a social enterprise or in a similar NHS or voluntary sector led healthy living programme would also be desirable. Occasional weekend and evening working will be required by prior arrangement

For further information, details and an application form please call Di van Ruitenbeek on 01706 879553 or email bacupconsortium@googlemail.com.

The deadline for the receipt of completed applications is Friday 30 September. Interviews will be held on Thursday 20 October 2011.
