Most people want to do more shopping locally, but when push comes to shove many still head elsewhere for their shopping. Why is this? What is missing or lacking about our local high streets? If we don’t have the answers then how can we possibly tell the planners, local authorities or our politicians what we need them to do?

With debates over cost and availability of parking, high street cleanliness, pedestrian access and reliability of public transport isn’t it time that people’s opinions were voiced to find out exactly what needs to be done to ensure local people are spending their money with local businesses? After all it’s great local businesses that keep the economy going, that go the extra mile for their customers, support the local community and shape the very character of the town.

The latest initiative from thebestof, ‘Buy Local’ is calling upon local people to show their support for local businesses and join the campaign to encourage shopping and spending locally. More news and updates to follow over the coming weeks but to start with you can get involved by displaying a ‘Buy Local’ window sticker in your business premises to show your support. Secondly, you can promote your business and give something back to local consumers by adding special offers on thebestof website...
