There was plenty going on in Bank Street last Sunday when the first ever Clogs on't Cobbles got underway!

The brainchild of both Nate Nicholson of The deli and Elizabeth Taylor from Bolthole this was always going to be a successful event.
‘Clogs ont’ Cobbles’ was aimed at being a Christmas celebration of all things Rawtenstall — its history and heritage.

“For a long time, Rossendale has been heavily involved in footwear and traditionally clogs were a very popular item of footwear, and of course Bank Street’s cobbles give the market town a unique charm. Hence the combination of the two for this day of celebration.

Hundreds of people flocked to town to join in the fun with the event being officially opened by opera singer Sean Ruane. There was also plenty of entertainment throughout the course of the day with the Britannia Coconutters, Rossendale Radio, Santa Claus who was on hand to make sure that all those children get just what they want for Christmas this year and numerous bands and carol singers which ensured that Christmassy feel for all.

The feedback has been excellent with most people expressing that they would love to see this become an annual event.
All of this of course was in good cause too as almost £1,000 was raised for Rossendale Hospice, a very worthy beneficiary.

Hat's off to all of those who played an integral part in what was a great success and the start of something really special for years to come!
