On Saturday 16 June, an open day will be held in the church hall of Hallfold United Reformed Church on Hall Street, Whitworth, with the aim of giving people more details about the proposed redevelopment and associated opportunities for residents of the former Whitworth Conservative Club on Market Street (close to the Sportsmans) into an Adult Learning Centre.

The event will take place from 9am to 4.30pm; hot and cold food will be on offer, as will fun activities for all the family including a bouncy castle and face-painting (which will keep the children occupied whilst the adults have a change to look at the plans).  There will also be several stalls, some of which will be displaying information on the types of academic, vocational and professional training courses to be offered at the centre and at other venues around Whitworth prior to the centre’s opening.

Stewart Holland, who is spearheading the initiative, will be on hand to discuss the centre proposal and plans for the delivery of the courses prior to the building being ready, and brochures and promotional material will be available to take away on the day.  Financial advice for potential students will also be available, and the Workers Education Authority will be in attendance displaying material from projects they have actively supported (for more information visit www.wea.org.uk).  There may also be a presence from NIACE (National Institute of Adult Continuing Education).

For more information please contact Stewart Holland on 07849 187665 / email stewart.holland@sky.com.  This is a free event and all are welcome.  Please pass this email on to anyone you think may find it of interest.
