Naomi House Children's Hospice, a worthwhile charity supported by The Best Of Portsmouth.

Naomi House and Jacksplace are hospices for children and young people with life-limiting conditions. The charity provides care to life-limited and life-threatened children, young people and their families from communities across the seven counties of Berkshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Surrey, West Sussex and Wiltshire. The charity has two specialist units: Naomi House for children, and Jacksplace for teenagers and young adults. Naomi House & Jacksplace need to raise £7 million pounds each year in order provide a full service and deliver on plans. The charity receives less than 10% of its income from statutory sources. The remainder of the charity’s income is raised and donated by individuals, groups, organisations and businesses in central southern England. The support given by Naomi House & Jacksplace is unique in central southern England. Naomi House is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, delivering a range of services to help to relieve families from the day to day pressures of looking after a child or young person with a life limiting condition.

The charity offers a unique and vital service - one that is not available through the NHS.The hospice gives families a lifeline in times of unimaginable crisis. It may be the break parents need from their role as a 24/7 carer;a chance to recharge their batteries and to spend time as a parent, free from worrying about their child's medical needs. The hospice also offers a valuable service at the end of a child's life - a chance for family members to say goodbye in a calm, caring and dignified environment.
