It was a fine day for walking when the joint presidents of the Royal Cornwall Show 2010 visited on the first day of the Show.

Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall completed a packed tour, starting in the Cornwall Food and Farming Pavilion and proceeding through many features

Large crowds gathered as the royal couple set off on separate tours, preferring to walk through the crowded avenues rather than being driven. The Hawkman spoke to Prince Charles about eagle owls and barn owls to the obvious enjoyment of the Prince.

Amongst the features visited by the Duchess were the Flower Show, Dog Show and the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution stand.

Meanwhile, the Duke visited the forestry section, cattle, sheep, pigs and the Young Farmers’ Club marquee. He also unveiled the plaque to officially open the show’s new sheep shearing shed.

Later, in the main ring, the Duke presented trophies to horse classes winners. This was preceded  by the huntsmen and their dogs.
