Abermawr Beach

A remote rural beach which includes a pebble bank backed by earthed cliffs. Golden sand and buried tree stumps can be seen when the tide is low. A ruined cottage, wildlife marshy area and bluebell woods climbing the hill on the southern end can all be seen behind the beach. No lifeguards are available at this beach. Dogs are allowed on the beach. The nearest town to the beach is Goodwick. Read more
Aberfelin Beach

A small, low-tide sand and shingle beach not far from Trefin. The beach is great for rock pooling although swimming is not really suitable for swimming. It is surrounded by high cliffs the beach is sheltered from prevailing winds and is an ideal sun trap and a great place to bathe during the summer. Caution is really important when the sea is rough due to there being strong currents further out. The beach has its own little island, an imposing stone arch and a cave tunnel to walk through. Abereiddy Beach

This beach includes pebbles and extraordinarily dark sand made of pounded grey slate. The same slate also gives an amazing deep blue colour to the water in the ‘Blue Lagoon’ which is a beautiful harbour north of the beach. Abereiddy is a popular place to go coasteering, climb cliffs and jump into the sea. Also a row of ruined cottages can be seen alongside the old quarry. Dogs are allowed on the beach. There is no existing lifeguard service at the beach. In 2013 the beach was awarded with a Green Coast Award and Seaside Award (Rural). Read more
Abercastle Harbour

Abercastle Harbour is a long, narrow and picturesque bay. The beach is small and sandy. Due to the harbour being sheltered from existing winds, it is the perfect place for both kayakers and boats. However there is a charge for keeping boats there with the money going towards paying for the village’s facilities. There are restrictions for dogs at the harbour. The harbour is located approximately 2 miles north west of Mathry. Read more

The meaning of the word Aberbach stands for little river mouth. Aberbach is a relatively narrow cove that faces west towards the Irish Sea. Although Aberbach is a small pebble beach, when there is a low tide, golden sand can be seen on the beach. Dogs are allowed on the beach all year long. The beach is located 3 miles away from Fishguard along the coast to St David’s. Legend has it that a local farmer captured a mermaid at Aberbach and convinced her to marry him. Read more
