The homes will open their doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.
On Saturday 8th August from 11am–3pm, Care UK’s Oaken Holt and Wytham House will open their doors to the public for a vibrant food festival inspired by the tastes, colours and traditions of the Caribbean, Africa and Romania.
Celebrating the diverse cultures within the teams across the estate, the festival will give visitors the opportunity to sample a range of delicious dishes, including [insert examples of dishes], and to discover different food traditions. Guests will also be invited to get creative with hands-on herb potting and recycled pot making activities.
The events are part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations and share what life in a care home is really like.

“We are part of a strong community here in Oxfordshire, and days like this are a wonderful way of bringing people together to celebrate our shared love of food, while giving residents the opportunity to share their favourite recipes and traditions with younger generations.
