The Ashmolean Museum of Art & Archaeology is one of Oxford's top tourist attractions. Owned by Oxford University, this is one of the oldest museums in the world and Britain's oldest public museum. Entry is free of charge to the main building, with a charge being made for special exhibitions.

Established in 1683, The Ashmolean Museum has been continually updated within the beautiful stone buildings in Beaumont Street to now provide a restaurant, coffee house, shop and ongoing tours and lectures throughout the year.

It is also possible to hire the Ashmolean as a wedding venue!

Opening times for the Ashmolean Museum:

Open: Tues – Sunday 10am – 5pm, Bank Holiday Monday 10am – 5pm

The Museum is closed 24 – 26 December, 2014.

The Museum will be opening to the public on Monday 29 December

Mondays from 30 June to 25 August: 10am – 4pm

Open: Tues – Thur 10am – 4.30pm
Fri & Sat 10am – 10pm
