  • Friday 9th March 7:30pm until 9:30pm
UEA Symphony Orchestra warmly invite you to join them for their spring concert, ‘Northern Lights’, on Friday 9 March at 7.30pm at St Andrew’s Hall, Norwich.

Under the direction of UEA Director of Music Stuart Dunlop, the 70-strong orchestra will perform Tchaikovsky’s Overture-Fantasia Romeo and Juliet, Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A Minor Op. 16 and Sibelius’ Symphony No.1 in E Minor Op. 39.

Tchaikovsky’s Overture-Fantasia Romeo and Juliet takes us through Shakespeare’s drama in vivid musical pictures, while Grieg’s Piano Concerto Op. 16 is a dynamic and lyrical showcase for both soloist and orchestra. Sibelius’ Tchaikovsky-infused Symphony No.1 Op.39 is driven on by the Finnish composer’s own dark energy toward a final melody the equal of any in the Nineteenth Century.

UEA Symphony Orchestra will be joined in their performance of Grieg’s Piano Concertoby pianist Anna Geniushene.

Tickets for UEA Symphony Orchestra’s ‘Northern Lights’ concert cost £4 - £12 and are available to purchase by phone or in person St George's Music Shop (Telephone: 01603 626414, Address: 17-19 St Georges St, Norwich NR3 1AB); online from the UEA Music Centre websitewww.uea.ac.uk/music-centre/events/tickets or on the door (cash or cheque only).
