With festival season officially under way, a care home in Norfolk is welcoming the community for a fun-filled day of food and celebration.
On Saturday 8th August, from 10am-3pm, Care UK’s Broadlands Lodge will open it's doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.
Visitors to Broadlands Lodge will be transported to the shores of Hawaii with a delicious selection of Hawaiian-inspired food, while tapping their toes to live music from local singer Nick Stepheson, who will be performing a range of classic favourites throughout the afternoon.
Janet Bussey, resident at Broadlands Lodge, said: “I’m looking forward to everything about it, it sounds like it’s going to be fun! I love trying new food. My family’s tradition was that every Sunday, everyone came together for a roast dinner.”
The events are part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations and share what life in a care home is really like.
Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.

Each home offers full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. The homes incorporate plenty of space for hobby and leisure activities, while the layout of the buildings are configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
