Northampton Central Children's Centre - We are Spring Lane Children's Centre based in central Northampton.

Over 145 years ago, Thomas Bowman Stephenson took the time to listen to homeless children living under the arches of Waterloo station.
He listened. And we’ve been listening and taking action ever since.

From one family home in Waterloo, the charity quickly grew to become the National Children’s Home (NCH).

Today, as Action for Children, we hold tight to our founder’s pioneering spirit. We drive forward new ways to make life better for vulnerable children. We work relentlessly to fix problems early and give them the chance to grow up happy, healthy and with hope for their future.

Children’s Centres offer a range of services to parents from pregnancy through to when your child starts school. You and your child can make friends and play; seek advice and support on your child’s health, parenting, family matters and healthy lifestyles; find help in seeking work and much more.

Whether you’re a mum, dad, grandparent or carer, we have a range of services available to suit you and your family.

Across your area, we offer

  • A range of fun activities to support your child’s development and early learning. For example Stay Play and Learn Together (SPLAT) groups, which include messy play, storytelling, singing and music that you and your children can enjoy together
  • Child and family health services ranging from ante natal clinics, breastfeeding support and child health clinics
  • One-to-one parenting support in your home. Our family support team offer advice, information and help with many different family or home issues
