Newmarket Retailers Association has announced plans this week to hold a Dragons Den style contest in an attempt to find budding entrepreneurs to take over empty shops in Newmarket town centre.

Aspiring businesspeople of all ages can enter the competition, which has been inspired by the success of reality shows such as Dragons Den and The Apprentice, and compete to win prizes, including free rent periods, money towards refurbishment, a year's free banking and free business and legal advice.

The association hopes to find enough contestants from the local area so that 15 shops with Newmarket that are currently standing empty can be filled with vibrant new businesses helmed by local people.

Titled 'Strictly Come Newmarket, entry forms will be available from shops in Newmarket soon and an information day has been organised for Tuesday 7th December at the Bedford Lodge Hotel.
