Businesses, homes and shops across Newmarket were plunged into darkness yesterday following a mysterious powercut.
The reason for the powercut is much more tame than the event itself, after EDF Energy Networks revealed it was caused due to engineers isolating a local supply to carry out repair works.
EDF restored supplies as quickly as possible, but they reported that the situation could potentially occur again as essential maintenance to the local electricity network continues.
