Private Owen Pick, an eighteen year old soldier from Newmarket, will visit Buckingham Palace tomorrow for a special meeting with the Princess Royal.

Owen, who hails from Red Lodge, was serving with the 1st Battalion Royal Anglian Regiment, The Vikings, in Afghanistan when he suffered injuries to his right leg from an improvised explosive device.

The former Mildenhall College Student made a courageous recovery and whilst still walking with crutches, Owen was able to walk to collect his medal at a recent service celebrating his bravery.

A former Army Cadet in Mildenhall, Owen also took part in a march through Southend last week as part of a homecoming tour of the UK, including parades through Cambridge, Huntingdon and Ely.
