How thinking like an athlete can help you achieve greater business success

With the Olympics creeping ever closer, the nerves of the nation’s top athletes will start to be tingling. As they prepare to hit the pinnacle of their careers in front of a viewing audience reaching into the billions, how will they control their nerves and perform to their full abilities?

But you don't need to be preparing to run against Usain Bolt in the 100 metre final for nerves to get the better of you and that can hit your performance.

Important meetings or public speaking can be nerve wracking and how you say your piece is as important as what you say.

July’s Very Early Lunch Club (VELC) will help you address these issues thanks to guest speaker Colin McLean – a presentation and body language expert – who will teach you what elite athletes can teach us about preparing ourselves to handle nerves.

Non verbal communication is important and can work against you if you don't put out the right signals.

As well as this fascinating talk to help you in your business, the VELC is also an excellent networking event.

With a sit down breakfast served at your table, and organised networking, allowing you to meet and talk with other local business people you can start your day with a good breakfast, some useful knowledge and possibly even a lead or two.

And what's more, members of thebestof Newmarket can enjoy a discounted rate.

Next month’s Very Early Lunch Club is taking place at Anglesey Abbey from 7:30am until 9:30am on Friday 6th July; please click here for more information.
