Wicken Fen near Newmarket has long been associated with myths and legends of ghosts and spectres.

From the monks of nearby Spinney Abbey who, it is said, can still be heard chanting in the night to the mysterious lights which are visible through the myst and are said to be portents of doom.

And you will need to be on the look out for demon dog Black Schuck, with his firey eyes the size of car headlamps, who is said to have been owned by Viking god Odin, and takes lone ramblers who are never heard from again.

A chilling place at the best of times, the Halloween Ghost Walk has proved a popular event for locals looking for a scare and some fun over Halloween weekend.

Taking place on Saturday 27th October, the price is £5.25 per person. pre-booking is advisable on 01353 720274. Please note that the event is not suitable for children under seven because Black Shuck doesn't like to ruin his appetite on small snacks!
