Come on Newmarket - get fit for Christmas

Everyone’s gearing up for Christmas and its excesses – masses of Turkey, roast potatoes, stuffing, Christmas cake and pudding, chocolate selection box... shall I go on?

Yet the festive season is also the time for office parties, get-together with friends, family reunions – those times that you really want to impress that annoyingly perfect girl in Accounts or avoid the ‘you’d be so pretty if you just lost some weight’ comment from Great Aunt Gladys.

So what to do?

Well, there are still almost six weeks until Christmas Day, which is plenty of time to lose a bit of weight in readiness for putting it straight back on again! And luckily for us, Newmarket has a whole host of exercise classes and events that are sure to get your pulse racing and kick-start that metabolism.

The Newmarket Ramblers Association is perfect for those of you who want to get a bit more active but don’t want to break out into a full-on sweat. Choose from half or full-day walks, which range from 5 to 10 miles plus. And in addition to stretching those legs, you’ll have the opportunity to meet fellow ramblers from both Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.

Alternatively, how about joining Newmarket Badminton Club? Held every Monday between 7pm and 9pm at Scaltback Middle School, the Club welcomes all ages and abilities.

Ignite the fire inside with Yoga from Newmarket’s White Tara. Dynamic in nature, Vinyaysa Flow Yoga is ideal for all levels, as long as you’re ready to work hard!
