With whizzes and bangs set to fill the Newmarket skies this weekend, we take a quick look at some of the biggest and best local Bonfire Night celebrations in the area that will help make your Guy Fawkes Night 2010 the best yet.

One of the safest and cheapest ways to enjoy Bonfire Night in Newmarket is to attend one of the many local, public bonfires and firework displays.

Exning Cricket Ground

Exning Cricket Ground will be hosting its annual firework and bonfire event on Saturday 6th November.

Co-hosted by the Newmarket Lions, the evening kicks off at 7pm with a 'low bangs' display for local toddlers followed by the bonfire lighting, a grand display of fireworks and hot food and ice cream served throughout.

Midsummer Common

If you fancy a trip over to Cambridge, the Council will be taking over Midsummer Common on Saturday 6th November from 7pm for its spectacular firework display and fun fair.

Or if you prefer celebrating Bonfire Night a little closer to home then turn to many of the local fireworks suppliers in the Newmarket.

Always observe the fireworks code and if you have small animals or pets, ensure they are kept indoors and follow the simple advice from the PDSA to keep them comfortable.
