The cream of the British Fashion Industry dusted off their glad rags for a reception in their honour at Buckingham Palace.

Anne Furbank, founder of Newmarket ladies fashion boutique, Anne Furbank, was honoured to be among star guests including Twiggy, Sophie Dahl and Erin O’Connor at the event, hosted by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

Anne Furbank, who owns two independent ladies wear shops in Buckden and Newmarket, was one of only a handful of independent retailers to be invited.

‘”I couldn’t believe it when I opened the invitation, asking me to a reception for the British Fashion Industry at Buckingham Palace,’ said Anne.

“The whole evening was amazing. I was excited just driving through the gates at the palace. I was very lucky to not only meet the queen at the official line-up but also to get the opportunity to speak to her later in the evening in a much more intimate group. It was a real honour to be there and I was very proud to be representing the independent retailer,” she added.

Among the other 350 guests were designers Jasper Conran, Betty Jackson, Julien Macdonald, Jeff Banks and Ozwalk Boateng.
