Summer at The Pot Kiln with Mike Robinson
28th June 2010

The Pot Kiln is having a great summer, with a little bit of sunshine bringing you all out in droves to thier beautiful garden. As a result they have updated the bar food menu to bring you lots of fantastic quick recipes as well as old favourites like the legendary pure Venison Burger. If you prefer something a little lighter, bar food includes the perfectly delicious chicken Caesar, the melting goat's cheese salad and the cod fishcakes with pesto and green garden salad.  All under £10 !

In this gorgeous weather, many of you are asking for items from their Restaurant menu to be served in the garden. In response to your requests, starting from Monday 28th, on suitable days (not raining etc.) they will be serving several selected a la carte restaurant dishes at our outside tables as well as their usual popular bar food menu. You'll be able to see what they are on the blackboard.

Seasonality is all, so they are using produce from the garden like nobody’s business. At the moment all their beans, salads as well as carrots and courgettes are being picked service by service for your delectation. In the wild, Roe deer venison is all over their lovely menu, as well as rabbit and lots of summer fish from Cornwall. Fish dishes like pesto roasted cod cheeks with cockles and clams, and roasted baby monkfish tail are there as well as specials. Local lamb from Mike's great mate Tom Brown in Peasemore and strawberries from Pete and Avril in Tutts Clump are there as well. There is a bit less game than usual due to the time of year and the weather means they are keeping the dishes light!

Remember weekday Monday Wednesday and Thursday lunch deal is amazing – any 2 courses off the restaurant menu for just £15.95 and three courses for £19.95.

Pizza nights on Sundays are as wonderful as ever. They regularly do 200 of Berkshires best wood oven pizzas made to order from 5.30 to 8.30pm. No need to book, just  turn up. The team are super slick and usually get the pizzas out within 30 minutes, though this can be a little longer on particularly crazy nights!!!

The Cookery school is doing really well – so much so that they have laid on more some more courses . See The Best of Newbury Event pages for more details of upcoming courses.
