Need some inspiration in the kitchen? Then make sure you take a trip to the Royal County of Berkshire Show’s Cookery Theatre where a team of top chefs will be on hand throughout the weekend to give you all the latest recipes, top tips and ideas you’ll need to cook up a feast at home.
Headlining Chefs include Gareth Kershaw, Sous Chef of The Coach in Beedon, who specialises in fresh, home cooked food. Gareth’s food is so in demand that he has even cooked for some famous faces over the years including Wayne Rooney and Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber! There’s also Justin Brown of the newly launched Sun Inn, Dummer. Justin won Pub Chef of the Year 2009/2010 and was a contestant on BBC2’s Masterchef, The Professionals.
Best Of Newbury Business Member and TV Chef Mike Robinson, who you may recognise from his appearances on ‘Good Food Live’, ‘Saturday Kitchen’ and ‘Tales from the Country’ will be cooking at the Show. Owner and Head Chef of The Pot Kiln in Frilsham, Mike also has his own cookery school – ‘The Mike Robinson Game and Wild Food Cookery School’, which opened in 2006 and teaches people how to butcher Rabbits, prepare Game and Birds and rediscover the art of smoking, curing and preserving.
Also showing off his skills will be Graham White, Head Chef of The Plough in Eastbury and recent winner of West Berkshire’s Chef’s Challenge. Graham will be teaching us all how to make the most of our leftovers when he cooks the winning recipe of West Berkshire Council’s ‘Love Food, Hate Waste’ campaign. West Berkshire residents have been submitting their best leftover food recipes and Graham will pick the recipe he likes best to cook live at the Show. West Berkshire Council will also be there handing out there free ‘Love Food Hate Waste’ food portion tools to help you get on the right track to reducing your family’s food waste and cutting your shopping bill.
The Cookery Zone is open both Saturday and Sunday. Pick up a Show Guide for the latest timetable.
