We called in to the 'Stables' tea room next to the Black Horse after a recommendation and what a find. Apparently on Tuesdays there is a special offer on scones and coffee.
So undecided what to eat when we entered we opted for the handmade scones with jam and cream and they were delicious. The ladies taking orders were pleasant and helpful and we recommend you give it a try when in the Foxton area; so we cannot wait for our second visit to this little gem.

Stumbled on this Artisan Bakery quite by accident. The Stables Tearoom is a delight and the smell of baking bread was delicious. Lots to choose from, all freshly baked on the premises. It's right next door to the Black Horse where we had a fabulous Sunday Lunch last time we were this way. It's only a short walk from the canal too. May I suggest you put a 'fresh baked bread' sign on the towpath to let us boaters know about the treats that are to be found here. A great find!

Found this place purely by accident as i was looking to stay in the area for a couple of nights away with work.
What a gem of a find and anyone, for business or pleasure who has to stay in and around the Corby, Market Harborough area I wouldnt hesitate to recomend The George. Not only was the converted stables a wonderful place to stay, Steph and her husband (sorry didn't get his name) couldn't have been more welcoming.
The food......where do I start!! No quick and easy meals for guests here, Steak Night Weds couldn't have picked a better night, proper hand made chips and a piece of steak to die for. Thursday night A la Carte menu with a good selection, my choice was Pork Chop with honey and mustard mash and veg, I didn't think the chef could top the previous night but he did!!
Breakfast equally as good so if you like your food homely cooked you'll love this place.
I have stayed away a lot over my career and stayed in great hotel chains, average hotels and the usual suspects of hotel chains but The George ranks up at the top. Its not just great food, great rooms and great service its the made to feel welcome feeling you want and you certainly get that here and more.....
Thanks again for a great stay Steph and hubby, will see you again.
