Since being under new management this pub has a warm and welcoming feel.
Excellent food, good quality wine, although being marketed as a wine bar, I expected more rosé options on the menu. Care is taken with the food, and the desserts are divine. The standard menu is a little on the high side for pricing, however the Sunday lunch option is well worthwhile, and the food is of high quality.
Atmosphere is good - music to suit the time- so livelier on the weekends. There is also a small car park on site, which is handy!

Good selection on the menu, although had just missed early bird menu by 10 mins (up til 7pm).
Limited choice of real ales but choice of Admiral Herkules (I think that's a Wychwood brewery one) was a good one. Realtively quiet but it was a Tuesday evening; about a dozen people in.Friendly staff and prices reasonable.
The village it's in is Gilmorton.

The White Lion has undergone a remarkable and tasteful renovation and is a credit to all involved in its transformation. Four of us enjoyed the 'Early Bird' menu which was varied and great value for money. We had a lovely table by the wine store and whilst the boys enjoyed a pint of Pedigree, the girls found the wine list more appealing. The decor in The White Lion is warm and cosy and has lots of small areas as well as a larger dining room at the rear. The excellent welcome and service we received would certainly make us come back for more. Looking forward to our next visit!

Delightful luncheon with three colleagues looking for a good quality working lunch. Delicious menu options and quiet service. Tastefully re-ordered pub which retains its charm.

Went to the White Lion for the first time since its reincarnation as a wine bar and restaurant after it having been closed as a village pub for some time and we weren't disappointed.
Very nice new decor inside, very nice food and good, friendly welcoming service too. Although the menu is possibly a little restricted I do feel there is something there for most tastes. We went for the Early Bird menu, 2 courses for I think £12.95 at lunchtime, both main course and desserts were nice and light, we certainly didn't feel bloated afterwards. All in all, a good experience, we'll definitely be back!

Very nicely renovated pub in a modern style. Had Sunday lunch last week which was £18.95 for 3 courses and worth every penny. Ham Ballantine for starter was a new one for me and very tatsy. Pork main course followed by treacle sponge with vanilla ice cream were up to the standard you would expect for the price. Service was also very friendly and efficient.
Local competion is the Joiners in Bruntingthorpe and the Grey Goose in Gilmorton. if that's your sort of restaurant then give this one a try.

Our first visit to this recently renovated pub, now converted into a restaurant/wine bar.
Lots of very nice touches inside with regard to the decor, not forgetting very nice food too. We weren't sure about having 2 courses at lunchtime, but we needn't have worried as our choices turned out to be nice and light and not at all heavy, we didn't come away feeling bloated so to speak. Excellent, friendly, welcoming service too with a reasonable choice of menu and last but not least, the place was spotless! We'll definitely be back!
