Condoms & Cucumbers brings a bold, witty, and interactive exploration of modern masculinity to the stage. Created and performed bylocal poet The Chubby Northerner, this genre-blending solo show fuses spoken word, theatre, comedy, and audience participation to unpack what it really means “to be a man” in today’s world.
Rooted in a Northern upbringing, the show draws on a life lived between two extremes from the hyper-masculine culture of sport to prancing in leotards in productions like Dracula the Musical. Through humour, honesty, and sharp storytelling, Condoms & Cucumbers explores the contradictions, pressures, and unspoken rules that shape male identity.
But this is more than a performance. Audiences are invited to take part, collectively creating a tongue-in-cheek “rulebook” of masculinity questioning everything from sex education and Brits abroad, oh and potentially getting involved in some karaoke.
At a time when discussions around masculinity, mental health, and identity are more urgent than ever, this show offers a fresh, accessible way inparticularly for those who might not usually step into a theatre and goes toe to toe with the Manosphere Ideology.
“So well delivered, a very timely examination of masculinity that is well overdue”
“ Absolutely outstanding! Totally relatable no matter your background”
