Kargo MKT has welcomed Bang Tang, a new independent Cantonese comfort food concept from sibling duo Jenny and Harvey Tang, which opened at the Salford Quays food hall last month.

The launch marks an exciting milestone for Harvey Tang, who previously worked within the kitchens at Bok Bok at Kargo MKT before developing Bang Tang into a standalone concept with its own dedicated container space within the market hall.

Founded by brother-and-sister duo Jenny and Harvey, Bang Tang draws inspiration from the dishes they grew up eating in their parents’ and family’s restaurants across Lancashire and Manchester, combining traditional Cantonese flavours with a fresh, modern energy.

Having spent much of their childhood immersed in restaurant kitchens, the siblings have built the concept around family tradition, technique, and comfort food designed to be shared. The name itself is a tribute to their father, a chef whose signature phrase, “Show them the bang!” became a defining family motto and continues to inspire their approach in the kitchen today.

The menu focuses on freshness and craftsmanship, featuring hand-wrapped beef rolls, homemade wontons, traditional roast meats, and wok-fired dishes rooted in the flavours of their upbringing.

Bang Tang joins Kargo MKT’s growing line-up of independent food operators, with the venue continuing to support emerging hospitality concepts and founder-led businesses from across the region.
